Sri Lanka Visa for Indians — ETA Required
Indian passport holders need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for Sri Lanka, applied for online before travel. In recent periods the government has waived the ETA fee for Indian tourists as a promotional measure, but fees and waivers change. Check the official Sri Lanka ETA portal for the current fee and validity before you book. Your passport should have at least 6 months validity, and you should carry a return ticket and hotel details. The Sri Lankan Rupee is weaker than the Indian Rupee, at roughly LKR 3.3 to 3.8 per ₹1, so check the day's rate. Outside your package, budget about ₹2,000 to ₹3,500 per person per day for meals, entry tickets and shopping. Indian Rupees are not widely accepted outside tourist shops, so carry US dollars or withdraw rupees from ATMs in Colombo.

Yes, an ETA is needed. It is applied for online and usually approved quickly, but you should apply at least a few days before travel. What is the best time to visit Sri Lanka from Kerala?
Sri Lanka has two monsoons, so the best coast depends on the month. The southwest coast and hill country (Bentota, Galle, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya) are best from December to March. The east coast (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay) is best from May to September. For the standard Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Bentota route, plan between December and April; April is good for the Sinhala New Year festivities, though prices rise.
