Yes, travel insurance is mandatory for any Schengen tourist visa from Dubai and must cover at least EUR 30,000 for medical emergencies and repatriation across all Schengen states for your entire trip from the UAE. Your Dubai policy must list name, dates and coverage. Mapshore in Dubai validates your certificate against the specific consulate checklist before lodging.
Schengen visa processing from Dubai is typically 10 to 20 working days after biometrics at VFS or TLS in Dubai, longer during UAE summer peaks and holidays. Each consulate decides independently, and any request for extra documents restarts the timeline. From Dubai the Schengen consulate fee is EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children six to eleven, free under six, fixed by the EU visa code. You also pay the VFS or TLS Dubai service charge and courier in the UAE. Fees paid in Dubai are non refundable even if any Schengen consulate refuses the visa.
From Dubai you need a passport valid three months beyond return with two blank pages, a completed Schengen form and recent photo, UAE residence or visit visa with three months validity and Emirates ID, six months of UAE bank statements, employment proof in Dubai, confirmed flights, hotels, insurance and a cover letter detailing your Schengen itinerary.
From the UAE a Schengen tourist visa allows up to 90 days within any rolling 180 day period counted across all Schengen countries, not per country, as issued in Dubai. The sticker shows validity and duration of stay separately. Count every Schengen entry from Dubai within 180 days; exceeding 90 days affects all future Schengen applications from the UAE.
